I started my photography business in 2009, and I spent years trying to find the perfect balance between work and family. I eventually realized, perfection is a myth. In so many ways we strive for it, we try to fake it on social media, right down to perfectly posed portraits. However, I believe the genuine laughter, imperfect reality, and honest personalities captured in an image are what tug at the heart strings. As my kids grow, I love looking back at the unposed pictures, the ones that magically bottle up a memory... of what someone was like, not what someone looked like. This is why I got into this business in the first place, and those are the images I want to create for you!
Ultimately, my family comes first, and we know all too well that life moves pretty quickly. You'll see glimpses of them in my Instagram feed and in my photo journal on this site. We love to spend time outdoors, going on road trips, or just enjoying the nearby beaches, parks, and trails.
There is no place like home. Truly. I am a pure Michigan girl, and can hardly imagine living anywhere else. Above all, I think it is the Great Lakes that I love. They surround the state with water and beaches. Inland, we may stumble upon a campground at an inland lake and feel a completely different sense of peace and escape, surrounded by forests and trails. I might swim, kayak, fish, cruise around on a boat, jump off a dock... but I'd be happy just to look at the water and listen to the waves hitting the shore. My favorite places in Michigan are Holland, Traverse City and northward, Mackinac, anywhere along M-22, and the northern edges of the UP.
I wanted to also mention, we own Osgood Brewing in Grandville, Michigan. Osgood Brewing is a full service restaurant and microbrewery, which we opened in 2013 (around the same time our third child was born)! It has been a tremendous amount of work, but we are enjoying having a place to serve our community! We have an incredible staff and customer base, and look forward to what the future holds for all of us! If you'd like to learn more, click on over to the website or the Facebook page and follow along!
